Tired of tuning into HBO on Sunday nights with no new episodes of The Gilded Age? Confused why the channel is showing a Mare of Easttown marathon tonight? (You know, considering that the Kate Winslet show came out in 2021…) Wondering when we’ll learn what happens next to Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon), Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson), and Peggy Scott (Denée Benton)? Betting with your family that The Gilded Age Season 4 will have a 2026 premiere date?

If you are one of the many Gilded Age fans dying to know what happens next, the good news is HBO is definitely committed to making a fourth season of the hit Julian Fellowes-created show. The bad news is The Gilded Age is an opulent production that might take longer to return to screens than you’d think.

Here’s everything you need to know about when The Gilded Age comes back to HBO and HBO MAX…

Nope, The Gilded Age is not on HBO tonight. As you probably already know, The Gilded Age Season 3 finale aired weeks ago, on August 10.

If you do tune into HBO tonight, you’ll find yourself in the middle of a Mare of Easttown marathon. Why is that? Well, Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby’s long-awaited follow up to that hit, Task, is premiering next Sunday, September 7, on HBO and HBO MAX.

Yes, there will be! On July 28, 2025, HBO confirmed that they would be making The Gilded Age Season 4.

The Gilded Age Season 4 will deal with the fallout of the Russells’ marital issues, Oscar van Rhijn’s (Blake Ritson) lavender marriage to Mrs. Enid Winterton (Kelley Curran), and Peggy’s wedding to Dr. William Kirkland (Jordan Donica).

The Gilded Age Season 3 took approximately 18 months to make it from greenlight to our screens, so the earliest we can expect Season 4 is late 2026.

Betting on a Spring/Summer 2026 Gilded Age return? Then you’d be wrong. Not only does the series take a massive amount of work to pull off, but there are at least five HBO series already ahead of the period drama’s fourth season in the production pipeline. These include the confirmed 2026 releases of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Industry Season 4, Euphoria Season 3, House of the Dragon Season 3, and DC superhero show Lanterns.

The Gilded Age is an HBO original, so you either need to have HBO or HBO MAX to watch it.

If you don’t already have HBO MAX, the streaming service is currently available monthly ad-free for as little as 16.99/month or for $9.99/month with ads. An ultimate ad-free subscription goes for $20.99/month and includes up to 100 downloads on the go.

Trying to get the best deal possible? You can get two months of HBO MAX free if you decide to commit to an annual subscription. Ad-free annual bundles go for $169.99/year or $209.99/year for the ultimate tier. A year’s worth of HBO MAX with ads goes for $99.99/year.

You can also bundle HBO MAX with your existing Hulu and Disney+ subscription for an addition $16.99/month with ads or $29.99/month ad-free.
