When it comes to Doctor Odyssey dropping new episodes, we’re going to go ahead and borrow language from Rose in Titanic: “It’s been 84 years…”
Really, it’s only been three months since we last had a new episode but it feels like so much longer given that Episode 8, “Quackers,” ended with a bombshell for Dr. Max (Joshua Jackson), Avery (Philippa Soo), and Tristan (Sean Teale). How could they do that to us?
**Spoilers ahead for the first eight episodes of Doctor Odyssey**
Since we know that The Odyssey’s medical team is facing the potential of becoming parents — yes, all three of them — we have been even more eager for this wild new ABC medical drama to return. And given that we don’t know who is responsible for knocking Avery up or if she is even going to go through with the pregnancy (she still wants to go to medical school, remember?) Episode 9 cannot come soon enough.
So when does Episode 9 air? Do we know the theme of the new episode’s cruise what it will be about? And have any photos been released ahead of the new installment? Here’s everything we have compiled on the forthcoming episode…
Nope! No new episode of Doctor Odyssey tonight but we are nearly there! Okay, we get it, you want a specific date. Here’s how close we are…
Doctor Odyssey will be back with a brand-new episode on Thursday, March 6. The episode will air at 9 p.m. ET and stream the next day on Hulu.
Thanks to a release from ABC, we know that after a long, long wait, Episode 9 is going to have some real bite… literally. The title of the March 6 episode is “Shark Attack” and it will feature The Odyssey’s medical team dealing with both personal and professional problems.
“Max and Avery are at a crossroads as Avery faces a difficult pregnancy decision,” a description reads. “Meanwhile, after Munroe is bitten by a shark, The Odyssey takes a dangerous detour to rescue a sinking boat, where a mysterious new passenger catches Max’s eye.”
As for the theme of this week’s cruise, that part remains a mystery! We’ve already seen singles, rubber duck enthusiasts, plastic surgery patients, and a wedding party embark on The Odyssey so far in Season 1, though, so we can’t wait to see who boards next.
Funny you should ask!

Yes, after Episode 8 released in November, ABC dropped a short promo that promises one crazy midseason premiere where everything is up in the air.
We get it, it’s been a hot second since Episode 8, “Quackers,” graced our television screens. Three whole months to be exact. If your memory is a little spotty, no fret, we’ve got you. In Episode 8, Avery, Sean, and Max discovered they have a bun in the oven and no clue as to who is the father. Who could forget that Episode 6, “I Always Cry At Weddings,” featured a steamy threesome with the medical trio aboard The Odyssey?
Decider spoke with Soo after the episode aired and asked about the bump (pun intended) in Avery’s road on the way to medical school. “I was definitely surprised,” the Hamilton: The Musical alum shared, adding that her character would not be hasty when weighing her options on how to proceed. Soo called it a story about a “woman’s conversation with herself about what choices she wants to make about her own body.” We’ll know soon enough!
You can watch the first eight episodes of Doctor Odyssey on Hulu while you wait for “Shark Attack” to premiere on March 6. You will need to have a subscription, which can be purchased for as low as $7.99 a month (or $79.99 per year) for an ad-supported option. Plans on the higher end go all the way up to $89.99 per month for the Hulu + Live TV with Disney+ and ESPN+ bundle.
The first eight episodes of Doctor Odyssey are now streaming on Hulu.
