Fans of South Park, the long-running animated dark comedy from Comedy Central, have migrated to Paramount+ for Season 27, which premiered on the platform in late July. The show was one of HBO Max’s flagship titles when the platform launched in May 2020, but after five years there, it’s now officially kicked off a new chapter on Paramount+. The shift follows a high-profile deal between creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Paramount Global, though the switch was first announced back in 2022, when Paramount Global (then ViacomCBS) regained the show’s rights. The remaining 26 seasons are set to make the move as well, and soon.
Soon is actually, well, now. Today, Aug. 5, South Park will be removed from HBO Max. As of this writing, it’s still available to stream there. The specific time of its removal has not been announced.
The entire series will be available to stream exclusively on Paramount+ starting today. Season 27 will continue to air Wednesdays on Comedy Central at 10 p.m. ET/PT, and those episodes become available to stream the next day at 6 a.m. ET/3 a.m. PT.
Paramount+ offers two subscription plans. The ad-supported Essential plan costs $7.99/month, while the ad-free Premium plan (which comes with Showtime and live CBS) costs $12.99/month. New subscribers can take advantage of a seven-day free trial.
You can also stream the series live or on-demand with a subscription to fuboTV, Philo, Sling TV, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, or DirecTV. Philo, fuboTV, Hulu + Live TV, and YouTube TV offer free trials for eligible subscribers.
The only way to watch shows airing live without cable is by using a live TV streaming service. We recommend DIRECTV, which has a number of flexible subscription options starting at $59.99/month and comes with a five-day free trial.
fuboTV is another great free option that’s also offering great savings on the first month — $20 off, to be exact, after a seven-day free trial.

Season 27, Episode 2 comes out tomorrow, Aug. 6, at 10 p.m. ET/PT—two weeks later than expected. The hiatus began after the premiere received criticism from President Trump, although it’s unconfirmed if the backlash was the reason for the break.
This delay follows the season premiere’s own postponement. Although originally scheduled for July 2, the premiere was pushed back to July 23 due to the delayed finalization of the new deal between Paramount, Parker, and Stone.
Hopefully, if all goes according to plan, we can expect new episodes to come out more consistently going forward. The show typically airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT live, or come out on streaming at 6 p.m. ET/3 a.m. PT Thursday mornings.
