Buckle in, Straw Hats. Netflix has an epic adventure awaiting with its live-action adaptation of One Piece

The series is based on Eiichiro Oda’s hit manga series, which contains over 100 volumes, and has inspired an ongoing anime series with 20 seasons, 15 movies, and 13 television specials – many of which are part of the streaming giant’s growing catalog

Created by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda, the show follows young dreamer Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) as he leaves his small village in search of treasure. Over eight episodes, he assembles a talented pirate crew to help him on his dangerous journey to become King of the Pirates.

While chatting with Decider at a June event, Emily Rudd, who stars as Nami in the adaptation, told us, “I have never wanted anything more in my entire life. To actually be able to live it is… I truly can’t put it into words. I feel like I’m done. What could possibly be next?”

She continued, “I’m really proud of the show we made. We made a nerd show — a good nerd show. A show made by nerds, for nerds.
