It only took three months but we finally made it! Doctor Odyssey and all of its shenanigans are here and ready to save the day — if they can save themselves first.
It’s been way too long since we last caught up with Dr. Max, (Joshua Jackson), Avery (Philippa Soo), Tristan (Sean Teale), and Captain Robert (Don Johnson), and just as long since we found out that there is a baby on board… on board. That’s right, at the end of Episode 8, “Quackers,” the audience discovered that Avery could soon be rocking a bump under her scrubs following her ménage à trois with Max and Tristan some episodes before.
We know what you’re thinking: “Didn’t Avery just get into medical school? How does this change things?” Well, the answer is that we don’t know and we’ve had to sit impatiently waiting for answers since November! How could they do that to us?
Thankfully, the wait is nearly over and we are about to find out if Avery goes forward with the pregnancy like Max wants, or if she makes her own decision that could jeopardize any relationship with him or Tristan. It’s almost too much, I can’t handle it!
Here’s everything we know about Doctor Odyssey Episode 8, “Shark Attack,” including when it airs, how to watch, and if our three-month-old questions about Avery’s pregnancy will be answered.
You bet your bottom dollar there is. An all-new episode of Doctor Odyssey featuring Jackson, Soo, Teale, and Johnson airs on ABC tonight and Friday morning on Hulu.
New Episodes of Doctor Odyssey air on ABC live at 9 p.m. local time.
If you have cable or a live TV subscription, you can always turn on your TV just before 9 p.m. and tune into ABC for the new episode.
No cable? No time to watch live? No sweat! New episodes of Doctor Odyssey, including “Shark Attack,” upload to Hulu the next morning at 3:01 a.m. or 5:00 a.m. You will need to have a subscription, which can be purchased for as low as $7.99 a month (or $79.99 per year) for an ad-supported option. Plans on the higher end go all the way up to $89.99 per month for the Hulu + Live TV with Disney+ and ESPN+ bundle.
Based on an episode description released by ABC, we know that this episode is going to be as dramatic as it comes. “Max and Avery are at a crossroads as Avery faces a difficult pregnancy decision. Meanwhile, after Munroe is bitten by a shark, The Odyssey takes a dangerous detour to rescue a sinking boat, where a mysterious new passenger catches Max’s eye,” the description reads.

In the lead-up to the highly anticipated return of the medical dramedy, ABC has released several trailers and teasers for the midseason return, showing high-seas shakeups. Check out one of the most recent releases below…
“Quackers” was a doozy, y’all. But it was also a doozy that aired 12 weeks ago, so we can’t blame you if you need a refresh. In Episode 8, Avery, Sean, and Max found out that Avery is pregnant following their steamy threesome in Episode 6, “I Always Cry At Weddings.” Who is the daddy? TBD, hopefully in Episode 9. Also up for debate is what the trio will do about the pregnancy.
In November, Decider spoke with Soo and asked about the bump (pun intended) in Avery’s road on the way to medical school. “I was definitely surprised,” she shared, adding that they would be weighing their options carefully. Soo called it a story about a “woman’s conversation with herself about what choices she wants to make about her own body.”
Boy, do I have news for you! Not only is “Shark Attack” a two-part episode that will air its second portion on March 13, the ABC medical drama will have a 9-1-1 crossover to look forward to on March 20. That episode, “Casino Week,” will see The Odyssey’s crew welcome Athena Grant (Angela Bassett) aboard the ship for an undeniably wild ride.
New episodes of Doctor Odyssey air Thursdays on ABC. You can catch up on the first eight episodes on Hulu right now.
