NextImg:When do new episodes of 'Countdown' premiere? How to watch all the episodes of Jensen Ackles' new show

More On:

Prime Video

The countdown to Countdown is over.

If you’ve seen the photos on social media of Jensen Ackles back with a gun in his hand five years after Supernatural came to an end, you probably have been waiting impatiently for this new series to make its debut. Good news: it’s time.

In the new show, Ackles stars as a hardened yet eternally sarcastic LAPD officer — and one with a dark secret because DUH — who must join a confidential task force to help take down a potential terrorist threat that could endanger the entire city of Los Angeles. To do that, he must work with the other team members, including agents from the DEA and FBI, to stop the threat before it becomes a reality.

In the streaming age, however, it’s rare to see a show like this — one so theatrical and old-school, that is — releasing episodes weekly. Trust us, it’s needed to feel the full weight of the show’s story. That said, just how many episodes will there be, though? And when will the new episodes drop on Prime Video? No fear, we’ve got answers.

Keep reading for everything you need to know to watch Countdown on Prime Video…

The first three episodes of Countdown are now available to stream today, Wednesday, June 25. Starting next week (July 2), episodes will drop on a weekly basis, one at a time, until the entire first season is out in the world to enjoy.

In total, there are 13 episodes of Countdown, dropping each Wednesday on the streaming service through early September.

All episodes of the dramatic and action-packed thriller will be available to stream on Prime Video on Wednesday, September 3. You can also tune in weekly if that is your speed.

The show is led by the Supernatural star who plays Mark Meechum, an LAPD cop who is the best at what he does but is harboring a deep and personal secret. Alongside Ackles is Violett Beane, Jessica Camacho, Eric Dane, Uli Latukefu, and Elliot Knight.

The show comes from the mind of Derek Haas, the creator of FBI: International and several shows in NBC’s Chicago-verse, including Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. He also served as co-writer of 2 Fast 2 Furious and 3:10 to Yuma.

The show follows an LAPD officer (Ackles) who joins a covert task force to look into the suspicious murder of a federal agent, only to uncover a master plan involving terrorism and nuclear weapons being brought into Los Angeles. The team — which also includes team members from DEA, FBI, and other federal agencies — must work together before time runs out and millions of innocents lose their lives.

Countdown premieres on Prime Video on Wednesday, June 25.
