Just like the wheel, our heads are still spinning from this particular answer. Wheel of Fortune viewers were stunned when Jessica Washington had just one letter left to complete her final answer on Monday night’s (Sept. 25) episode of the long-running game show, but just missed the mark.

The puzzle under the “What are you doing?” category reads as follows: “DINING IN THE DINING _AR.” Washington selected the letter “J,” making her response “DINING IN THE DINING JAR.”

According to Yahoo! Entertainment, the next contestant guessed the correct letter, “C,” to solve the puzzle as “DINING IN THE DINING CAR.”

Fans were quick to call out Washington’s slip-up on X (The platform formerly known as Twitter), claiming that her final answer “sent [their] jaw to the floor.” One quipped, “Meet me in the dining jar. Let’s settle this.”

Nonetheless, others backed her answer, with one fan writing that they were “about to say” the same thing, and and another asking, “is that wrong?”

Others acknowledged that train travel, as referenced in the correct answer, is not as common in the U.S., with one viewer posting, “once again, our nations lack of rail travel has failed us,” and another admitting, “to be fair, I’m pretty sure the last time anyone dined in the dining car was 1954.”

Nonetheless, Washington kept a positive attitude, posting on Instagram that her time on the show “was an experience of a lifetime filled with laughs!”

She told 11 Alive, an Atlanta-based NBC affiliate station, that she “lived out [her] dream” by competing on the show, which she fostered from watching with her grandparents when she was three years old. She described the experience as “super cool” and raved about co-hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White.

“Charismatic, engaging -you just feel safe and comfortable,” she continued.
