Tuesday night’s (Nov. 28) episode of Wheel of Fortune proved that nobody can fool Pat Sajak and his fans, no matter how hard they may try.

After finding success throughout most of the episode against fellow contestants Anthony Jones and Leigh Wang, married mother of three and former police detective Lindsey Ziegenfuss attempted to deceive Sajak after mistakenly selecting the wrong consonant, per The US Sun.

Choosing the “Phrase” category, Ziegenfuss was met with the following puzzle: “_ _ _ _S _ _ _ S_T,” as well as the following letters: RSTLNE. Sajak asked her to pick three more consonants and another vowel, to which she replied, “H, D, S, and O,” despite “S” already being given to her.

After “H” and “D” appeared on the letter board, Sajak paused and asked, “Okay, that third letter was, you said H, D…?”

Ziegenfuss responded, “H, D, C,” feigning her third consonant guess was not originally in fact “S.”

Seeing right through her, Sajak said, “But you did say S, right?”

Ziegenfuss smiled, refusing to admit her fumble.

Sajak continued, “No? Hold on. Earlier, did you say S or F? You said H, D…,” to which Ziegenfuss repeated the letter “C” once again.

Sajak, confused, replied, “Oh, so it wasn’t either S or F?” he prodded, eliciting laughter from the studio audience. “I think I got it, alright.”

Letter turner Vanna White also appeared befuddled, as the letters “H, D, C, O” were accepted. However, Ziegenfuss’ botched guess didn’t do her any favors, as none of the extra letters she chose were part of the correct answer, which was “Pay Us A Visit.”

While she lost out on an additional $40,000 for her missed guess, eagle-eyed fans certainly didn’t soften the blow, as they took to X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) to air their grievances.

“This lady just lied on Wheel of Fortune about what letter she said,” one fan shared. “Pat tried to correct her and asked her to repeat what she said. I rewound to confirm the lie. None of her other letters worked though and she couldn’t guess it, so instant karma for her.”

Another fan described her move as “UNREAL” insisting, “She said S!!!!!”

Wheel of Fortune airs on airs on weeknights at 7:30/6:30c. Check out their website for your local listings.
