The Mets have been arguably the best team in baseball through the first month of the season.

And the guy they signed to be arguably the best hitter in the sport has looked instead like just another pretty good player.

No one believes Juan Soto’s production isn’t going to jump at some point in his first year in Queens — and soon — but so far, he’s looked a lot more average than the superstar he’s been throughout his career.

His .772 OPS entering Wednesday put him just behind Washington’s Nathaniel Lowe and in front of Houston’s Isaac Paredes, which isn’t exactly what the Mets had in mind when they gave Soto a 15-year, $765 million deal in December.
