The Jets have had three OTA practices this spring that were open to the media. That means it’s time for some early observations.
Now, let me caution you about how I feel about OTAs. There is not much to see in these sessions that will have any bearing on wins and losses in the fall. It’s more about seeing the new players and coaches for the first time and getting a feel for what the team’s depth is.
Evaluating players is silly at this time of year. Former Jets coach Todd Bowles used to like to say, “They’re in shorts,” when asked about how players looked in the spring, meaning everyone looks good in shorts. It does not always translate when the pads come on.
That being said, I do have some takeaways from what I’ve seen so far. Here we go:
