Something has changed within streaming… or will be, at least. Because starting tomorrow, the Wicked movie will be streaming on Peacock, free to anyone with a Peacock subscription.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, this film adaptation of Stephen Schwartz’s Tony-winning musical has been a long time coming. Cynthia Erivo stars as Elphaba, aka the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, before she turned evil. Glinda the Good Witch, aka Galinda (played by Ariana Grande), is key to Elphaba’s villain origin story. Before they were enemies, they were the best of friends.
Wicked was more than a box office hit—it was one of the highest-grossing movies of 2024. It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards at the 2025 Oscars, including Best Picture, and took home the awards for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. And now, the movie is about to get even more pop-u-lar on streaming.
Here’s what to know about how to stream Wicked online on Peacock, including the Wicked Peacock release date, and the Wicked Peacock release time.

Wicked will begin streaming on Peacock on Friday, March 21.
In addition to the theatrical version of the movie, Peacock will also stream the Sing-Along Version of the film, and a host of bonus content. That includes the “Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked” NBC Special, with interviews with the cast and footage from the set; “Making Wicked,” a behind-the-scenes featurette on the characters, choreography and creativity of the world; and seven deleted and extended scenes.
The Wicked Peacock streaming release time is 6 a.m Eastern Time, or 3 a.m. Pacific Time on the morning of Friday, March 21, according to a Peacock representative who confirmed the Wicked Peacock release time in an email to Decider.
That means if you live on the East Coast, or the Eastern Time Zone, you’ll be able to watch Wicked at 6 a.m. on Friday morning. If you live on the West Coast, you’ll be able to watch Wicked on Peacock even sooner—at 3 a.m. on Friday morning. (This also means if you were hoping to have a Thursday night screening of Wicked on Peacock, you are sadly out of luck.)
But we suggest you sleep in. Wicked will still be streaming on Peacock for you when you wake up.

You can sign up for Peacock Premium to watch Wicked with ads for $57.99 a month (or $79.99 a year), or you can sign up for Peacock Premium Plus to watch Wicked without ads for $13.99 a month (or $139.99 a year). Both tiers will give you access to the movie. However, you will not be able to stream Wicked on the free version of Peacock.
Once upon a time, there was a Peacock free trial. However, those days are long since gone. If you want to stream Wicked on Peacock, you’ll have to sign up for a paid account, or borrow a login from a friend.
