Looking for a new ensemble comedy to fill the Friends, Girls, and New Girl holes in your watch lists? FX’s Adults, a new series that follows a tight-knit group of Gen-Z friends/roomies, is hoping to live rent-free in your hearts.
Per FX’s official synopsis, “Adults is an ensemble comedy series about a group of twenty-somethings in New York trying to be good people, despite being neither ‘good’ nor ‘people’ yet.” Created by Ben Kronengold & Rebecca Shaw (and produced by Nick Kroll), the series follows five friends/roommates and “puts a slightly heightened twist on the wins, losses and humiliations of starting out in the adult world.”
“Whether they’re trying to get ahead at work, navigating the healthcare system, hosting a dinner party or dating in the age of Find My Friends, the group is finding that nothing about the real world is simple, and all their best intentions tend to make things worse,” FX’s synopsis continues. “These friends are works-in-progress, brimming with bad ideas and whatever their latest ‘theory of adulthood’ might be. But there’s one thing they consistently get right: showing up for each other.”
Sound intriguing — or just plain relatable? Tune in to meet Samir (Malik Elassal), Billie (Lucy Freyer), Paul Baker (Jack Innanen), Issa (Amita Rao), and Anton (Owen Thiele) when the series airs on FX or streams on Hulu.
