The Gilded Age Season 2 premieres on HBO and Max tonight, reuniting period drama fans with the likes of Christine Baranski‘s acerbic Aunt Agnes and Carrie Coon‘s indefatigable Bertha Russell. We’ll get more scintillating bon mots, more incredible costume designs, and even more opportunities to watch Morgan Spector‘s George Russell purr sweet nothings in the direction of his wife. The Gilded Age Season 2 is back! Our only question is when exactly does The Gilded Age come back to HBO?

The Gilded Age is an opulent soap opera set in New York during the late 19th century. Created by Downton Abbey showrunner Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age also follows a vast cast of characters, some fabulous estate owners and some the servants who work in the halls downstairs, keeping the glamour going.

The Gilded Age Season 2 will dive right into the so-called opera wars, a moment when the “old money” families of New York City found their grip on the city’s culture slipping when the “new money” families threw their support behind a new opera house, the Met. While Bertha Russell obsesses over opera boxes, Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) will find new pressure placed upon her to find a suitable husband. Peggy Scott (Denée Benton) will throw herself into her journalism work to avoid the grief of her young son’s death. Meanwhile, new arrivals — from a kindly reverend to a British Duke — promise to upend the delicate balance of power in New York City.

Here’s everything you need to know about when The Gilded Age premieres on HBO and Max…
