NextImg:What the Ziaire Williams signing says about the Nets’ next moves

The Nets’ re-signing of Ziaire Williams is official.

Their offseason business is drawing to a close.

The Nets and Williams finally put pen to paper Monday on the contract they had agreed upon way back in June. It’ll be for two years and $12.5 million, but it’s exactly how the Nets signed Williams that provides a little insight into their plans going forward.

The Nets were the only team in the league with ample cap space this summer, and general manager Sean Marks weaponized it as expected to extract future draft assets. Marks had already taken salary dumps to land a 2025 first-round pick (that became rookie Drake Powell), a highly coveted unprotected 2032 first-round pick from the Nuggets (when superstar Nikola Jokic will be 37) and several second-rounders.
