As the world mourns the loss of Michelle Trachtenberg, who died on Wednesday at 39 years old, they are also remembering her illustrious acting career.

Trachtenberg stole the screen in beloved films like the 1996 family comedy Harriet the Spy, the 2005 ice skating drama Ice Princess and the 2009 rom-com 17 Again.

Her career also included some notable TV roles on the biggest shows of the ’90s and 2000s. Trachtenberg appeared on a slew of fan-favorite series over the course of her career — some which may surprise you — starting with an uncredited role on a 1991 episode of Law & Order, per IMDb. She only went up from there, booking gigs in one of the biggest teen dramas ever, as well as roles in some major network dramas.

Trachtenberg starred as Buffy’s (Sarah Michelle Gellar) younger sister Dawn Summers in the last three seasons of the supernatural genre, in a role that spanned 66 episodes. Fans will feel especially nostalgic rewatching Buffy with news of a reboot being in the works, with Gellar in talks to return.

Starring Peter Krause, Michael C. Hall, Lauren Ambrose, Matthew St. Patrick, Frances Conroy, Freddy Rodriguez and Rachel Griffiths, this five-season-long HBO drama centered on the Fishers, a family that ran a Los Angeles funeral home. Trachtenberg played Celeste in four episodes of Season 4.

Trachtenberg appeared in a 2006 episode of the FOX drama as Melinda Bardach, a teenager who is left immunocompromised after undergoing a heart transplant following a car crash, then experiences anaphylactic shock six months after the procedure. Her character was ultimately diagnosed with tick paralysis.

Trachtenberg played Emma Karlin in five episodes of the Showtime dramedy’s seventh season. Starring Mary-Louise Parker as Nancy Botwin, a suburban mom who begins selling weed to make ends meet for her family after the passing of her husband, the series also featured the talents of Hunter Parrish, Alexander Gould, Andy Milder and Elizabeth Perkins.

Trachtenberg’s portrayal of the infamous Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl is one that has stuck with fans of the teen drama. While she appeared in 28 episodes of the original series, Trachtenberg reprised her role in two episodes of the 2021 reboot. Her cameo on the revival series marked her final TV role prior to her death.
