The 2023 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 27 in Kansas City.
The Jets will head to town with six picks, including No. 13 overall, while the Giants have 10, beginning with No. 25.
The Post’s Paul Schwartz and Brian Costello look at what the two teams may do with their selections when it comes to safety:
There is a starting spot up for grabs opposite Xavier McKinney after the defection of Julian Love to the Seahawks in free agency.
Jason Pinnock started five games last season and has potential.
Dane Belton was uneven as a rookie, but the coaching staff likes him.
Signed Bobby McCain, who has 87 NFL starts (32 the past two seasons for the Commanders), making him a viable option.
His modest contact of one year, $1.3 million suggests he is not assured of a spot with the first-team defense.
There is every reason to believe a safety will be added in the middle of this draft and perhaps even earlier.
Sydney Brown had six interceptions in 2022 for Illinois.
Jordan Battle (Alabama), Jammie Robinson (Florida State) , ball hawk Ji’ayir Brown (Penn State) and Brandon Joseph (Notre Dame) are players to watch.

The Jets have their short-term answers at safety, with Jordan Whitehead and Chuck Clark, but it would be wise to start thinking about long-term answers at this position.
Tony Adams showed some potential last year as a rookie, but the Jets could use a Day 3 pick on a safety who could play special teams as a rookie then slide into a starting role in Year 2 or 3.
