MLB history will be made tonight in Tennessee.

The first MLB Speedway Classic, a regular-season game between the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds played on the infield of a NASCAR speedway, will mark the league’s first time ever playing a game in Tennessee and it’s set to break the MLB’s single-game attendance record.

Baseball at a race track? You heard that right! A baseball diamond was constructed between turns three and four at Bristol Motor Speedway. It’s almost symmetrical, with 330 feet down the right and left field lines, and 400 feet to center. The left-center field gap is just slightly larger (384 feet) than the right-center field gap (375 feet).

The MLB’s current regular-season attendance record stands at 84,587, set all the way back in 1954, but with over 85,000 tickets sold for today’s game, a new record will be set tonight.

mlb speedway classic: what to know

As mentioned above, tonight marks the first MLB game played in Tennessee, and both of tonight’s starting pitchers have roots in the Volunteer State. The Braves’ Spencer Strider went to high school about 110 miles northwest of Bristol in Knoxville, and Cincinnati’s Chase Burns is a Gallatin native who also spent two years pitching at the University of Tennessee.

Want to check out the record-breaking night? Here’s what you need to know.

The MLB Speedway Classic, a game between the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds, is tonight, Aug. 2. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. ET on Fox.

If you don’t have cable or a TV antenna, you’ll need a live TV streaming service to stream the Speedway Classic for free. One option we love is DIRECTV, which comes with five days free and starts at $59.99/month, with plenty of subscription options that include FOX.

You can also take advantage of a free trial of fuboTV (seven days) or Hulu + Live TV (three days).
