NextImg:Warriors’ Draymond Green reveals ‘the worst’ part of Game 3 suspension

Looking in from the outside, Draymond Green offered his thoughts on his Game 3 now-infamous suspension in the first-round NBA playoff series between the Warriors and the Kings.

The four-time All-Star was ejected from Monday’s game with a flagrant foul two for stomping on Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis.

He was suspended without pay for the following game on Thursday, where Golden State pulled out a 114-97 win to make the series 2-1 in Sacramento’s favor.

Green, 33, opened up on his podcast “The Draymond Green Show” on Friday, his first episode since the suspension, saying he was “very intentional, by the way. Very intentional.”

“I know everyone wants to hear my thoughts on the suspension. I never knew you could be suspended for a flagrant two that happened seven years ago,” he said. “And I also didn’t know you get suspended for interacting with a crowd that’s flipping you double birds and yelling your name and chants that ‘You suck.'”

“Saying that, my guys played well. My guys played really well, stepped up to the challenge and it was absolutely incredible to see. I hope everyone enjoyed the game. I mean, I can’t say I really enjoyed the game, quite frankly. There’s nothing worse.”

“To get suspended from Game 5 of the NBA Finals, there’s never another NBA game that you could suspend me from that’ll be like, ‘Oh my god, I’m suspended.’ But just not being able to participate in the dog fight with my brothers part is the worst. So, I’m very thankful for the effort that the guys put out there yesterday to save our season.”

While it’s not the NBA Finals, Green has been here before, as he mentioned.

The famous flagrant from seven years ago was called in Game 4 of the 2016 NBA Finals when Green got tangled up with the Cavaliers’ LeBron James and he was suspended from Game 5, as it was his third flagrant foul of the postseason.

Without Green, the Cavaliers cut the Warrior’s series lead to 3-2.

Cleveland then made history by becoming the first team ever to overcome a 3-1 series deficit in the NBA Finals.

“By the way, being suspended from a game at this point in my career, it will never affect me from an emotional standpoint outside of my fellas was in a dog fight — is in a dog fight — and just not being able to participate in that dog fight, that’s crushing,” Green said.

“Because you just feel like you’re leaving them out there by themselves, leaving them astray to just figure it out. So, to not participate in that dog fight, that’s what bothers me the most.”

And the Warriors have not remained unbothered as well, admitting how “livid” and surprised they were about the decision.

In the event, ESPN noted that Green has 163 career technical fouls, 17 ejections and now four suspensions in his career, and that also hasn’t gone unnoticed by his team.

Recently, Warriors general manager Bob Myers didn’t sugarcoat the experience of having Green on Golden State’s roster, calling him “a complicated guy.”

“It’s not about whether you should or shouldn’t have been suspended. That doesn’t help anyone,” Myers said.

The Warriors, with Green, move on to Game 4 on Sunday in hopes of tying the series 2-2 against Sacramento.
