The Warriors do not want more cowbell.
As Kings fans have been clanging on cowbells at their home games at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, including a viral video in which one man was striking the instrument right in Warriors GM Bob Myers’ ears, the Warriors are taking steps to make sure opposing fans cannot bring this extra noise on the road.
The Kings sent a tweet Wednesday afternoon that was addressed to their fans who are planning to attend Game 3 in San Francisco.
“Cowbells will not be permitted at Chase Center. Any fan carrying a cowbell will be directed to the outdoor bag check location, where they can check their cowbell and retrieve at the conclusion of the game,” the Kings tweeted.
The best-of-seven series has been hotly contested as the Kings jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the defending champs, pulling away late in the fourth quarter in each of the first two contests.
Warriors star Draymond Green was ejected from Game 2 for stomping on Kings big man Damontas Sabonis, and later suspended for Game 3.
“My leg got grabbed,” Green sought to explain after the game. “Second time in two nights. Referees just watching. I got to land my foot somewhere, and I’m not the most flexible person so it’s not stretching that far.”
The NBA’s release suggested Green was suspended in part for a body of work of physical incidents in his past.
“The suspension was based in part on Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts,” a release from NBA executive Joe Dumars said.
Myers, the GM, took the tack that there is nothing the Warriors can do to change the cards they’ve been dealt.
“We’ve been here before,” he said Wednesday. “Once these decisions are made, there’s no appellate court. It’s over. You can react however you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s not playing … it doesn’t matter.”
