Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic was hospitalized after a “sudden and serious health issue” at a Salt Lake City restaurant Tuesday night, according to ESPN.

Milojevic traveled with the team to Utah ahead of Wednesday’s road game against the Jazz, and coaches and players were eating together when the incident occurred, per ESPN.

The 46-year-old Milojevic joined the Warriors’ coaching staff in 2021 and won a championship with the team in 2022, when Golden State beat Boston in the NBA Finals.

Milojevic has worked with the Warriors’ bigs over the years, and also helped Nuggets two-time MVP Nikola Jokic become arguably the best player in the sport.

The Serbian coached his fellow countryman for 2 ½ years and helped him improve passing, according to ESPN, which has since turned Jokic into an elite passing big.

“For him to be an NBA player, you have to have some elite skill set,” Milojevic told ESPN. “The passing that he has was elite.”

Milojevic also enjoyed a successful playing career overseas before transitioning to coaching.

He played in his native Serbia, Spain, Montenegro and Turkey during his 14-year career, and was the Adriatic League Most Valuable Player three times from 2004-06.

The Athletic reported he was nicknamed “The Serbian Barkley” after Charles Barkley.

Prior to joining Steve Kerr’s coaching staff, Milojevic served as the head coach of KK Buducnost in the Adriatic League in Montenegro.

He also served as the head coach of KK Mega Basket in Serbia from 2012-20, and was named an assistant coach for the Serbian National team in 2019.

The Warriors (18-22) enter Wednesday’s road game 1 ½ games back of the Lakers and Rockets for the final Play-In Tournament spot, and have been one of the NBA’s biggest disappointments.
