Wanda Sykes did not hold back during her recent visit to Today With Jenna & Friends, where she joined Jenna Bush Hager and her longtime friend Regina Hall for a chat about their experience hosting the Oscars together in 2022.

“I was saying to Regina, y’all were so good. You were excellent with Amy Schumer too, would you do it again?” Bush Hager asked Sykes.

Sykes did not appear to be particularly thrilled by the idea of hosting the Oscars again. “Um, you know they say never say never,” she responded. “I don’t know, I guess you would ask Will Smith if he would ever slap somebody again… Yeah, maybe.”

Her hesitation may come from the fact that Smith infamously stormed the stage and slapped Chris Rock when she, Hall and Schumer hosted the Academy Awards together. The incident resulted in Smith being banned from all Academy Award events for 10 years, though he is still qualified to be nominated and receive an award. But her joke made both Bush Hager and Hall laugh, even as Bush Hager face-palmed from her response.

Through her laughter, Bush Hager then asked Sykes if her answer was yes or no.

“I don’t know,” Sykes admitted.

Hall, on the other hand, spoke highly of their experience co-hosting the Oscars together.

“I don’t know. I think it was such a whirlwind. I will say this, we did have fun,” Hall added. “Before we were really coming up with ideas and once it was happening we were having a lot of fun.”

Sykes openly criticized Smith for the controversial incident. During a stand-up performance in Orlando after the ceremony, Sykes was quoted admitting she was “still traumatized.”

“I can’t talk about it. I get emotional,” she said on stage, per People. She then complained that Smith was allowed to stay for the rest of the ceremony, where he later received the Best Actor award for King Richard.

“I couldn’t believe he was still sitting there, like an asshole,” she said.  “Shouldn’t you be sitting there with a lawyer or LAPD, motherfucker?”

Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
