The Walmart employee whose final sign-off after 10 years on the job went viral on social media is thankful for the overwhelming response which she said “feels like a dream.”
Gail Lewis’ video which shows her clocking out at the Morris, Illinois Walmart store before speaking about her emotions over leaving the longtime job has racked up more than 25.6 million views on TikTok since she posted it on Nov. 16.
“Attention Walmart, this is Gail Lewis,” she said into a walkie-talkie. “10-year associate Morris, Illinois 8-4-4, signing out, good night.”
The video then cuts to Lewis in her car speaking directly to the camera.
“So today was an end of an era for me,” she said. “What you just saw was me signing out for the last time at my Walmart that I have worked at for 10 years.”
The short clip has since received an outpouring of support from users — both locals and strangers — thanking Lewis for her “service” at the mega-chain.
Lewis, in return, thanked everyone for their support in a Facebook message to NBC Chicago this week.
“…Words really can’t describe my gratitude,” she told the outlet. “It almost feels like a dream. I would never guess that this would get this kind of attention.”

Lewis said she was “happy sad” leaving her longtime job at Walmart — where she said her coworkers had become like family — for a better one, without revealing her new employer.
While many online are dying to know her next move, Lewis said she can’t reveal her new employer due to the large amount of attention she is receiving, according to NBC Chicago.
Still, she said has already started the job and “loves the work.”
