Liberals are cheering First Son Hunter Biden’s repeated defiance of Congress, but his stunts to flout a legally required deposition only make him — and his dad, President Biden — look more guilty.
The left swooned at Hunter’s peek-a-boo act Wednesday, showing up unannounced at a House Oversight Committee hearing.
Lawmakers were debating whether to hold Hunter in contempt for blowing off a subpoena last month. (Instead, he flipping the bird at Congress with his “poor me” presser right outside where he was supposed to appear.)
“Did you guys get played” by Hunter’s vanishing act? NewsNation’s Leland Vittert taunted Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) after Wednesday’s event.
“Extremely savvy,” tweeted ex-Bidenite Michael LaRosa. Hunter “masterfully forced GOP to scramble AGAIN.”
“Time and time again, he said he’s willing to talk to Republicans, at least in a public setting,” spun CNN’s Melanie Zanona.
Uh, no: The Trump family didn’t get to make their own rules when Democrats subpoenaed them; Hunter doesn’t get to, either.
Yet Hunter refuses to sit for a methodical, closed-door deposition, where he’d be questioned on his influence-peddling and trading on his dad’s name without tight time limits or time-wasting for-the-camera posturing.
He says he’ll only appear at a public hearing — which is guaranteed to be an empty circus.
Look: La Famiglia Biden raked in $24 million from China, Russia, Romania, Kazakhstan, etc. — a huge benefit to family head Joe even if none of it went straight to his pocket.
Americans have a right to know what these “clients” got for that money — and what our sitting president did to make them willing to pay and keep on paying.
Donald Trump Jr. showed up for five congressional hearings; Democrats subpoenaed and deposed numerous Jan. 6 witnesses behind closed doors.
Republicans are treating Hunter no differently.
Besides, if Hunter and Joe have nothing to hide, why on earth would he refuse to answer questions, privately or publicly?
The Bidens’ repeated lies and evasions provide huge reason to suspect the worst — that Joe abused his office as vice president to deliver for his son’s and brother’s clients.
Hunter’s refusal to testify only deepens those suspicions.
And it leaves the House no choice but to explore impeachment so it can bypass Biden family obstruction and ferret out the truth.
