The gender is still up in the air.
A Virginia family’s gender reveal went viral Tuesday after it didn’t go quite as planned when the family’s 4-year-old daughter accidentally snipped the balloon’s string rather than popping the ballon itself.
The TikTok, which was posted last week, has since been viewed nearly 30 million times.
Candice Pope Ross and her husband said that they wanted to include their 4-year-old daughter Finely in the reveal and gave her the honorary job of popping the black helium-filled balloon that held the colored confetti.
In the video, the 4-year-old can be heard counting down before confidently stepping up to the balloon and snipping the balloon from the cord.
“No Finely!” yelled Ross as she made a desperate grab for the balloon.
“oh my god,” said another person off-camera.
Laughter from both the child and father can also be heard off-camera.
Ross said that her daughter’s laughter quickly turned to tears thinking she had just sent her sibling away, writes CBS affiliate WTVR.
Luckily, all hope of learning the gender was not lost.
According to Ross, the couple blew the colored glitter out of their daughter’s hair but declined to reveal the gender of their child.
Several people on TikTok found the whole incident hysterical.
“She did not understand the assignment,” said one user.
“It’s not the gender reveal you wanted, but it’s the one everyone deserves,” laughed a second person.
“She said no sibling for me,” a third person commented.
“You know that balloon was expensive as hell too,” commented a fourth person.
Other people claimed the child did what she though was right.
“Well you gave her scissors,” pointed out one user.
“I mean.. she used scissors… like scissors, and we, a bunch of adults are the ones surprised by the outcome,” stated a second person.
“You gave a toddler scissors it’s on you,” slammed a third person.
