NextImg:Viral Rob Gronkowski partying story is ‘BS’: ex-Patriots teammate Julian Edelman

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has heard enough of the “fake news” surrounding his former teammate Rob Gronkowski and his alleged wild partying habits.

Former Patriots defensive end Jake Bequette told Blaze TV’s “Prime Time with Alex Stein” that Gronkowski often would get wasted the night before game days, ending up unconscious to the point where his crew would have to drop him off at the team’s facility, where he’d then crash on one of the training tables.

“So then, like an hour or two later, when the trainers would come in to start their workday, they’d come in there and see Gronk just sprawled out on the training table, just fast asleep,” Bequette said. “They would go over there, they wouldn’t wake him up, they would roll up one of his sleeves and, you know, stick an IV in his arm.

“After a couple hours, he would just wake up like Frankenstein revived and go out there and just kick ass.”

This is just one of many stories that depicted Gronkowski as the ultimate party animal, but Edelman came to the tight end’s defense on social media.

“Story is BS. Everyone wants to paint Gronk as a party animal. When in reality he was one of the most dedicated teammates I had,” Edelman posted on social media.

The four-time All-Pro hasn’t been shy about discussing his party habits in the past, but it’s likely more the timeline — the night before a game — that has led to Edelman speaking out.

“Well, I’m carrying my friends, you know, throughout the bar. I’m holding them up. I’m lifting. I’m curling them,” Gronkowski told Jimmy Fallon earlier this year. “They’re on my back, I’m jumping up and down. I’m dancing the whole time. Kinda like Austin Butler. I’m gyrating.”

No matter how true the party stories may or may not be for Gronkowski, the fact remains that he is one of the greatest tight ends of all-time with four Super Bowl rings to his name and was the go-to target for Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback of all-time.

Now that is something to celebrate for.
