NextImg:Vikings’ Andrew Van Ginkel continues to haunt Daniel Jones

A breakdown after the Giants’ 28-6 Week 1 loss to the Vikings on Sunday:

In his return to MetLife Stadium, former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold torched the Giants, completing 19 of 24 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. He had a 113.2 quarterback rating.

Daniel Jones was as bad — or worse — than he was in limited action last year. One of his interceptions was a pick-six, the other contributed to the Giants going 0-for-3 in the red zone. He finished 22-for-42 for 186 yards.

Andrew Van Ginkel must haunt Jones’ nightmares. He had the sack (for the Dolphins) last season that put Jones on the shelf with a neck injury. Then he had four tackles, a sack and a pick-six when they met again.

9 Penalties for 95 yards committed by the Giants, including three pre-snap and two to gift first downs.

“I don’t respect it, honestly. I get it. They want to see their team win. It’s just a rough patch,”
