What a clown show!
A New Jersey ATV and motorcycle dealership put the pedal to the metal, mocking a team of blundering burglars online with hilarious video of the would-be thieves unsuccessfully fleeing cops.
The botched early-morning break-in at Ledgewood Powersports was caught on surveillance cameras on Route 46, owner Noelle Schmidt said.
Nine bozos were collared Sept. 8 trying to steal nearly a half-million-dollars in merchandise.
“I have a multi-level, high-tech security system that I update all the time,” Schmidt boasted to The Post. “As soon as a mouse goes across my perimeter, I’m notified.”
The suspects were nabbed after Schmidt alerted police to the crime in progress.
The thieves never had a chance. Roxbury NJ Police, with the head’s up from the savvy Schmidt — whose boyfriend is a former Hoboken cop and SWAT officer — quickly set up a perimeter around the dealership.
Schmidt posted the security videos — one complete with “Pink Panther” theme music and another laced with silly circus tunes — as the poachers are seen scurrying like rats once they realize the jig is up.
“Just realizing that maybe this wasn’t such a good idea, our burglars are seen displaying not so terrific superman diving skills, and every criminal for themselves behavior (we loved how some jumped and fell flat on their face) while they quickly realize pwc trailers do not make a great spring board for scaling a fence. (Ohhh that trailer axle between the legs must have hurt, poor guy),” Schmidt posted to the dealership’s Facebook page on Sept. 10.
“For those of you that wear pants that are too big . . . let that guy be a lesson to you…PULL YOUR PANTS UP,” Schmidt mocked.
Brazen bandits are 0 for 3 in their attempts to plunder her store, located near Route 80.
“Once was in 2017, one in 2019 and then again in 2023,” she said.
Five of the suspects were arrested by Roxbury and neighboring Netcong officers, authorities said. Four people who hopped the fence into a wooded area were found with the help of the Morris County Sheriff’s K9 unit, cops said.
