A Vermont lawyer has been charged with stalking a woman after tracking her whereabouts with the use of Apple AirTag he fastened to the back of her car’s license plate, according to police.

Michelle Woodcock, 62, of Warren, called Vermont State Police in March after she found the small device on her car.

Police said Burlington resident Alan Bjerke, 61, allegedly placed the AirTag behind Woodcock’s license plate so he could track her movements.

Bjerke was looking to take possession of the car as part of a debt payment, but he did not have a search warrant to track Woodcock or her car’s location, police said.

He was issued a citation for stalking on Wednesday.

Bjerke, an attorney and former lawmaker, previously pleaded no contest to charges that he snapped a photo of a partially-nude woman in a tanning salon in 2006, according to WCOX.
