For more than four decades, Vanna White and her designer gowns have been a staple on Wheel of Fortune. But according to her son Nikko Santo Pietro, that’s not at all how his mom dresses when she’s home.

The mother-son duo appeared on this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show to teach host Drew Barrymore how to make salsa. Toward the end of their time together, Barrymore couldn’t help but ask White about her iconic wardrobe.

“When I’m at home, I’m definitely not in work clothes. All of these clothes get taken off my body, put back in the wardrobe department, and they never come home with me,” Barrymore said, before asking Santo Pietro, “What does she dress like at home?”

Looking to his mom, he replied, “How do you dress at home? I mean, she’ll have full PJ days where it’s just a day in the PJs,” while White added, “Isn’t it the best? No makeup. Ponytail.”

The model said she likes to dress down because she gets “dressed up to work” so getting dolled up is “the last thing” she wants to do when she’s home.

“I’ve worn over 8,000 gowns,” she told Barrymore, who asked if she got to keep any of them. “I don’t get to keep them. But they do let me borrow them for [events] — the Emmys or whatever.”

White has been a Wheel of Fortune mainstay since 1982, which was one year after Pat Sajak took over as host. After working together for over 40 years, Sajak finally decided to retire, leaving White to work with his replacement host Ryan Seacrest.

Speaking of the game show’s latest season, White said it’s “really good” and she had nothing but kind words to say about her new co-host.

“He’s so nice. He’s so professional,” she gushed. “He’s very kind and hardworking.”

The Drew Barrymore Show airs on weekdays on CBS. You can check the website for local airtimes.
