Vanna White wants to keep Wheel of Fortune in the Sajak family.
The longtime letter turner has expressed her approval of Maggie Sajak as a “good replacement” for her as Maggie’s father, Pat Sajak, prepares for his own final season as a host.
“She’s been around [Wheel of Fortune] her whole life, so I think she can fill in for me for sure,” White — who has no current plants to retire — told E! News of Maggie, who currently serves as the game show’s social media correspondent.
White also claimed that Pat’s charm has “rubbed off” on his daughter.
While she thinks that Maggie has “learned a lot from her father because he’s such a good interviewer,” she has also earned her own experience. The 28-year-old turned letters for White in May while she was competing on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.
“She’s precious, she’s beautiful, she’s very good… I think she’s very good for our show,” White said.
With respect to Pat’s upcoming departure from Wheel, White noted that “there’s definitely sadness and it is absolutely bittersweet for [her],” quipping that she has become “very attached” to the longtime host over the course of their 41 years of working together.
“It’s going to be really hard for me after all these years,” she added.
That being said, she praised Pat’s incoming successor, Ryan Seacrest as a “kind man” and “professional.”
“He’s good at what he does,” she continued. “He likes to have fun.”
Seacrest has also made it a point to tell the world that he is not intending to mess with the formula that has made the show so successful. He has even been practicing “shouting out the puzzles” in his living room by watching Pat and White on TV this season.
White affirmed this sentiment of Seacrest’s, revealing that he”even said to [her], ‘I’m not trying to replace Pat by any means. I just want to go in and do a good job.'”
