A California woman stole an Amazon delivery van told cops she only got behind the wheel because she was in a rush to get home, according to Palo Alto police.

Elena Flores, 36, spotted the 2020 Ford delivery van idling on West Charleston Road shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and hopped behind the wheel, police said in a press release.

The stunned Amazon driver returned after dropping off a delivery and realized the van was gone — only to see the thief driving away and making a U-turn down the street to head south.

Theworker called the police, who were able to track the stolen van by working with Amazon dispatchers.

Cops caught up with Flores in her hometown of San Jose and took her into custody, charging her with felony vehicle theft and for committing a felony while out on bail for an earlier bust.

Police did not provide details of the earlier case.

She allegedly told the cops who busted her with the stolen van that “she just needed to get back to San Jose.”

Police said Flores was at least kind enough to drop the stolen van off at an Amazon facility there.
