Valerie Bertinelli got emotional while trying on the same outfit she wore in her first “before” pic for a Jenny Craig weight loss commercial.
“Found the clothes I was wearing in my very first ‘before’ picture with Jenny Craig,” she said while laughing and recording herself in the mirror in an Instagram video Monday.
The “Valerie’s Home Cooking” star walked closer to the mirror while wearing a light pink long sleeve button down top and dark blue wide-leg jeans.
“I have done so much emotional and mental work to recover from years of, ugh, pretending everything was OK when it wasn’t,” she continued.
Bertinelli, 63, emphasized that health should not be defined by a “body size” or a “number” on the scale, and “your worth as a human being isn’t dictated by your body.”
“I thought I was fat the last time I wore these clothes. I’ve never felt more beautiful, more at peace, more mentally and emotionally stable than I do today and I’m wearing my ‘fat clothes.’ That’s f—ked up,” she said while laughing again.
The “One Day at a Time” alum alum added in the caption that she’s been doing “a lot of emotional and mental purging in the last year” since finalizing her divorce from ex-husband Tom Vitale in November 2022.

“These were in the back of my closet in my office. I don’t know why I kept them, but now I’m glad I did. It’s nice to see how far I’ve come emotionally. I continue to work on not suppressing or numbing my feelings with food or alcohol and here I am,” she wrote in part.
Bertinelli has come to learn that she is “enough” and has a lot more “love” her “heart can hold.”
“Please love yourself, every single part of you. YOU ARE ENOUGH ????✌????,” she concluded.
Bertinelli became a spokesperson for Jenny Craig in 2007 and previously credited the former weight loss company to helping her shed 40 pounds in 9 months, according to a 2009 People story.
However, she has since stopped weighing herself on the scale and instead focused on what she eats and working out.
