An “upset” Malik Nabers and Giants coach Brian Daboll had an animated discussion on the sideline Sunday in the first half of the team’s season opener against the Commanders.
In footage shown on the Fox broadcast, Daboll engaged in what looked to be a spirited exchange with the second-year wideout, who play-by-play caller Kevin Burkhardt described as “upset.”
“Meanwhile, in the quarter break, this was going on. Malik Nabers, upset at something, Brian Daboll addressing it, and then his teammates came over to help, and then says, ‘Hey guys, let’s get together, we gotta go, and so they will,” Burkhardt said in the booth alongside Tom Brady.
Daboll, entering his fourth year in New York, was then seen in a huddle with Nabers and other Giants players before play resumed.
The Giants, coming off an atrocious 3-14 campaign in Nabers’ first year, trailed the Commanders in the second quarter, 14-3.
Nabers, the Giants’ sixth overall pick in 2024, has two receptions for 23 yards so far on Sunday.
