A woman refused to pay for an upgrade on a flight from London to Bangkok after she ran into the premium section — only to later be seen throwing wads of money at her travel companion on the tarmac after they were kicked off.
The woman, whose identity has not been released, was aboard the EVA Air flight Saturday when they began fighting with her male partner, SWNS reported.
She stormed off to the premium economy section, but then refused to pay for the upgraded seat.
A spokesperson for the Taiwanese airline said both travelers had been “unruly” during the flight.
“Another male passenger traveling with her also engaged in disorderly behavior and smoked an e-cigarette adjacent to the cabin galley,” a spokesperson for the Taiwanese airline told the outlet.
”Our flight attendants took quick action to stop these passengers but encountered inappropriate insults and physical abuse,” the rep said.
”After seeking the assistance from eight other passengers, these two unruly passengers were successfully restrained.”
But matters took a bizarre turn after the plane turned around about five hours into the flight and landed in Vienna, where the squabbling pair was removed.
Footage shows the woman throwing cash at her companion on the tarmac – as he and airport workers scrmable to pick up the money, which estimated to be $6,000.
“The lady and the man, they were already intoxicated,” Andy Sing, 63, a passenger who was traveling to Thailand on vacation, told SWNS.
“They kept talking about money. He would say, ‘She’s got my £5,000 in her bag,’” he said. “The captain said, ‘We have to go back to Vienna because [of] staff safety and the passengers’ safety. Ladies and gentlemen, we have got no choice but to get back to Vienna.’
“He said ‘it will take two and a half hours to get back there, and we will decide what to do after that,’” Singh said, adding that the man “decided after a couple of minutes on the tarmac to grab the bag from the lady, but the lady just threw all £5,000.”
Police ultimately removed the warring duo from the tarmac in a van.
It was not immediately clear if the couple faced criminal charges.
