A 12-year-old boy has been busted on suspicion of murdering a middle-aged woman who was found run over by a car in the UK.

South Yorkshire Police told The Sheffield Star that a “woman in her 60s” was found “suffering serious injuries” after being hit by a car in the city late Wednesday.

“She sadly died at the scene,” the force said.

“A 12-year-old boy was located a short time later and arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article. He remains in police custody,” the police rep said.

It was not immediately clear if the boy had been driving the car or had been with anyone else at the time. It was also unclear if the “bladed” weapon had been used in the alleged attack.

Neither the boy nor the woman was identified.

Police did not elaborate on any possible connections between the pair or a possible motive.

However, Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bowell said it “will be a deeply distressing time for the families of those involved.”

“I would ask their privacy is respected as they seek to understand what has happened,” the top cop told the local paper.

The BBC shared an image of a gray-colored sedan in the middle of the street with black bags covering smashed windows in an area sealed off by crime scene tape.
