The Giants are going to have a quarterback decision to make.
The team is designating Tyrod Taylor to return from injured reserve and opening his 21-day practice window, according to multiple reports, as they return from a bye week ahead of next Monday night’s game against the Packers.
Taylor, the 34-year-old who’s making $5.5 million in the final year of a two-year contract, suffered a ribs injury against the Jets on Oct. 29.
After Daniel Jones tore his ACL in his return from a neck injury on Nov. 5, undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito has started the last three games for the Giants and has acquitted himself well over the last two games, helping them defeat the Commanders and Patriots.
The New Jersey native, 25, has quickly become a fan favorite, though it’s unclear if he has earned himself more starts over a returning Taylor, a one-time Pro Bowler with the Bills.
In Taylor’s start against Buffalo on Oct. 15, he went 24-for-36 for 200 yards in a 14-9 loss, and the following week he went 18-for-29 with 279 yards and two touchdowns in a 14-7 win over the Commanders.
After a rough start in a blowout loss to the Cowboys on Nov. 12, DeVito went 18-for-26 with 246 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-19 win over Washington on Nov. 19, and he was 17-for-25 with 191 yards and a touchdown in a 10-7 win over the Patriots on Nov. 26 before the Giants’ bye week.
