The Miami-Dade Police Department is already looking into Sunday’s detainment of Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill.
Hill, 30, was cited for reckless driving following a moving violation near Hard Rock Stadium before the Dolphins’ season opener against the Jaguars.
He was shown on video handcuffed and laying on the ground before he was released.
“We are aware of the recent detainment of Miami Dolphins player Tyreek Hill by Miami-Dade Police Department officers,” director Stephanie V. Daniels said in a statement released by the MDPD. “I have requested an immediate review of all details surrounding the incident, and we are also reviewing available body camera footage. We will provide updates as further information becomes available.”
In an interview with NFL Network, Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus called the treatment of his client “unnecessary,” adding, “there’s no reason Tyreek should have been treated that way.”
Hill’s teammates Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith were also at the scene.
The star receiver is playing in the Dolphins’ game against Jacksonville.
