Tyreek Hill disagreed with Colin Cowherd.
And the Dolphins wide receiver then made things personal with the famous sports media personality.
After an X user posted a clip of Cowherd pouring cold water on the Dolphins’ 22-20 home win Sunday over the Cowboys – whom Cowherd previously predicted would “blow them out” – Hill quote tweeted the clip while calling Cowherd a “thug” and using a tired media versus athlete narrative.
“What sport has this thug played again ????,” Hill tweeted.
While Hill’s response may seem odd with him using “thug” for a sports take, it’s clear that Cowherd struck a nerve by basically overlooking Miami’s best win of the season.
Cowherd, who’s had a spotty track record at best in recent years, first predicted that “a little fake” Miami would be exposed by Dallas at home.
“I’ve had my doubts about Miami all season long,” Cowherd said on Dec. 22, two days before the game. “The Dolphins are a perfect representation of Miami. They’re fun, they’re exciting, they’re flashy and a little fake. … Miami is a lot of fake tough guy. Fake Gucci bag.”
He added: “I think Dallas is going to blow them out.”
Dallas did not blow out Miami, with the Dolphins (11-4) instead securing the two-point win to set up a battle for the AFC’s top seed when they face the Ravens (12-3) this week.
While Miami winning certainly would have given Cowherd reason to give the Dolphins their flowers, he instead used the team’s history against them to essentially dismiss the victory.
Cowherd equated the Dolphins with a sportswriter who has done little for 23 years and then happens to write one good column.
“Twenty-three years is the last time you won a playoff game, 23 years of nothing remarkable,” Cowherd said Wednesday. “This past weekend you didn’t win a Pulitzer, i.e. a Super Bowl. You didn’t even win an award, i.e. a playoff game. You beat a Dallas team that is talented but strangely bad on the road.
“Miami is constantly seeking validation and respect. ‘Let’s give us some credit, Colin.’ That’s Visa, MasterCard. That’s not my job to give you respect, it’s my job to be honest.”
Cowherd did praise Miami’s physicality, its “hipster coach” in Mike McDaniel and even said Hill is “crazy good,” but basically held past failures against this Miami team.

He did predict Miami to win its first playoff game since 2000 this season, and the Dolphins are currently the AFC’s second seed and would host the Colts in the first round.
“But even in your own division, which Josh Allen has watched since year two of his career, the last nine times you faced Buffalo, you’re 1-8,” Cowherd said. “So you can’t control your division, you can’t win playoff games, you’ve been really unremarkable for 23 years, but you wrote a really good column and need to be respected. How about an ‘Attaboy” and we move on.”
