For the Mets in 2022, when it rains, it pours — and that’s not even a reference to Thursday’s rainout.
Just as the Brewers were finishing up a demoralizing sweep in Milwaukee, the Mets sent Tylor Megill – who was supposed to start the home opener against the Marlins before it was postponed – back to New York early so he could rest.
But as he attempted to fly commercial, his flight was delayed multiple times – so he ended up rejoining the Mets’ team charter, according to MLB.com.
It ended up being all for naught as Megill will now wait until Friday to pitch anyway, but it’s perfectly emblematic of how the Mets’ season has started.
After taking three of four from the Marlins in Miami, New York was swept in Milwaukee in three games, with the Brewers outscoring them 26-6 in the series.
On Wednesday, the Mets took a 6-4 lead in the fifth over the Brewers after getting to ace Corbin Burnes, but Milwaukee tied the game in the bottom of that same inning, and later won on a walk-off home run from Garrett Mitchell.

The Brewers hit nine home runs in the series, including three straight off of Max Scherzer on Tuesday night.
The Mets are only 3-4 and seven games into a 162-game season, so there’s still plenty of time for the team to change its luck.
But for Megill, that wasn’t starting at a Milwaukee-area airport on Wednesday afternoon.
