The two fans who rushed the field on Monday night trying to get to Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. were arrested.

Denver police said Jefferson Gonzales-Merida, 23, and Carlos Rivelo Paiz, 21, were changed with trespassing and disturbing the peace for their stunt at Coors Field as the Rockies fell to the Braves 14-4.

The two men were jailed and have been released pending appearances in court next month.

The two chargers are viewed as petty offenses but do carry fines, according to the Denver Post

A third person reportedly made his way onto the field during the incident but turned around before being apprehended and cited for trespassing.

The bizarre incident occurred during the seventh inning as Acuña was settling in the outfield for the bottom half.

Both men had apparently jumped onto the field in order to get pictures with the outfielder.

The first man was able to grab hold of Acuña before security arrived to pull him off, but that is when the second man appeared and seemed to knock Acuña down.

Nobody was injured during the episode.

“I was a little scared at first,” Acuña said through an interpreter after the game, per the Associated Press. “I think the fans were out there and asking for pictures. I really couldn’t say anything because at that point, security was already there and we were already kind of tangled up, but security was able to get there and everything’s OK.

“We’re all OK and I hope they’re OK.”

The MLB Players Association said Tuesday after the incident that it was going to review team and stadium safety measures.

It comes in response to the incident with Acuña as well as a shooting that took place during a Chicago White Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field on Friday.

“The Players Association takes player safety very seriously,” the MLBPA said in a statement. “Following security incidents, including those on field, our director of security is in immediate contact with MLB security and local authorities where appropriate.

“In addition to our security experts, our PA player services staff is in daily contact with players — providing updates and any relevant information.

“While the details of the recent incidents in Chicago and Denver are still under investigation, we will be reviewing the club and stadium protocols currently in place, as we do throughout every season, to mitigate the possibility of similar future incidents.”
