Twitch star Kai Cenat spoke out for the first time Wednesday about the massive crowd of hooligans who swarmed Union Square Park last week, turning what was supposed to be a “fun” giveaway into a riot.
“I am beyond, bro, disappointed,” Cenat said in a Twitch livestream after holding up a newspaper article about Friday’s melee.
“Bro, beyond disappointed in anybody who became disruptive that day, bro. 100%, that s–t is not cool.”
The 21-year-old streamer was arrested and charged with inciting a riot, unlawful assembly and related charges after thousands of his online fans took over the iconic Manhattan park in a violent and chaotic scene, cops said.
Cenat’s followers descended upon Union Square, where the Twitch streamer said he’d be giving away free PS5 game consoles and other gaming accessories.
The illegal gathering quickly grew violent and left at least seven people injured and 66 in handcuffs.
Videos from the scene showed Cenat’s young fans stomping on a NYPD vehicle and two were accused of assaulting a cop. Police are looking for multiple suspects in each case.

“I want people to know that none of that was my intention, you feel what I’m saying,” Cenat said in his Wednesday live stream titled “First stream after New York” in all Caps. “I had good intentions for this whole thing and none of that was my intention, bro. Not only that but I don’t condone any of the things that went on that day. None of that was cool.
“When we do things like this, it not only needs to be safe, but it needs to be fun,” he added.

Cenat, born and raised in New York, said he wanted to give back to the place he came from.
The streamer’s Wednesday remarks were in stark contrast to what he said while advertising the giveaway.
“We’re gonna go crazy, bro!” he said days before the unlicensed event.
Cenat was released from police custody the day after the riot and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 18.
