Twitch influencer Kai Cenat seems to be reveling in the chaos he created after sparking a “full-on riot” in Union Square.
Cenat posted an image to his Instagram stories from local television news depicting the out-of-control throng which wreaked havoc Friday, leaving at least seven people hurt and 51 arrested.
Thousands of Cenat’s followers appeared in Union Square after he promised to give away PS5’s in an unsanctioned event that quickly grew out of control.
The social media star, who has 20 million followers across multiple platforms, was expected to be charged with inciting to riot and unlawful assembly before being released on a desk appearance ticket.
The failed stunt earned him ridicule online.
“Hey sorry I missed your little get together in Union Square. How did it go?” snarked parkedinny in one comment.
“You are not a star! You are a freeloading clown! Go to work,” poster apugeddon said.
Said mishmosh1127: “Keep the PlayStations to yourself next time..”
Countered one ally to the haters: “Y’all wanna blame him so bad for them reckless ass kids behaving like that..y’all acting like twitch tryna tear him down.”
The 21-year-old Cenat hadn’t obtained a permit for his gaming accessory giveaway in the park and the 3:30 p.m. event quickly devolved into violent chaos as thousands of young fans stormed the surrounding streets.
In addition to the influencer, 65 people were taken into custody throughout the three-hour melee, 30 of whom were juveniles, police said.
Videos show the rioters tossing cones, bottles, and rocks at one another, as well as innocent passersby and responding officers.
According to police brass, at least three cops and four civilians were injured in the anarchy.
The streamer left the 19th Precinct on the Upper East Side early Saturday and was hustled into a waiting black SUV without commenting to the media.
It’s unclear where Cenat, a Bronx native who now lives in Atlanta, is currently, said a source.
“I don’t know,” a high-ranking source said when asked about Cenat’s whereabouts. “Hopefully not Union Square.”
Cenat did not immediately respond to requests for comment via his business email.
