WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump’s campaign said Wednesday it had raised $6.6 million since Trump was indicted on 37 federal charges for allegedly mishandling classified records.

The haul follows a $10 million windfall over five days including the 77-year-old’s April 4 arrest on 34 New York state criminal counts linked to 2016 hush money payments, showing declining but still substantial revenue from Trump’s appeals based on his legal woes.

“Since deranged Jack Smith took the unprecedented step of weaponizing the justice system to attack his political opponent, [Trump’s campaign] has raised more than $6.6 million in just a few short days,” the Trump campaign said in a press release.

The amount announced Wednesday includes more than $2 million raised at an in-person Bedminster, NJ, fundraiser Tuesday night that included a fiery 30-minute speech from Trump after he returned from his arraignment in Miami federal court.

“In a clear sign of the steadfast support … Trump enjoys from grassroots Patriots across the nation, over $4.5 million has been raised from digital fundraising, with an additional $2.1 million raised at President Trump’s event at Bedminster last night,” his campaign said.

The Trump campaign didn’t describe how much was raised each day around Smith’s indictment.

Donors reportedly paid at least $1,000 each to attend the Bedminster fundraiser Tuesday night.

About $4 million of Trump’s fundraising haul from his first arrest came in the first 24 hours after charges were filed by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, with about $2 million more coming in the 24-hour period around his surrender in the novel business-records case.

A declining response rate to grassroots donor appeals could reflect trouble energizing Trump supporters — with even more potential criminal charges coming from special counsel Jack Smith and Georgia prosecutors investigating the 45th president’s efforts to reverse his 2020 election defeat.

However, Trump’s legal problems have yet to dent his frontrunner status in the Republican primary.

Second place GOP contender, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, trails Trump by 30.4% according to the RealClearPolitics average of recent polls.
