Trevor Lawrence appears to have suffered a devastating ankle injury late in a tied game between the Jaguars and Bengals on Monday night.
The Jaguars quarterback appeared to have his ankle stepped on by Jags lineman Walker Little and bent causing him to be in visible pain before slamming his helmet to the ground.
Lawrence had dropped back for a pass on third-and-11 with 5:38 left in the game when he went down.
He immediately grabbed for his ankle before Zay Jones and a Bengals defender helped Lawrence to his feet.
Lawrence tried to limp off the field, but almost instantaneously fell back to the ground in pain.
A member of the Jaguars’ medical staff raced out to him and he was eventually helped off the field to the locker room wincing in pain.
A field goal attempt by the Jaguars that would have broken a 28-28 tie missed and C. J. Beathard came into the game for Jacksonville on their next possession to replace the injured Lawrence.
Lawrence had completed 22-off-29 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns before he was injured on “Monday Night Football.”
He also ran for a score.
Entering the game, Lawrence had 2,746 passing yards and 12 touchdowns this season.
He had made 47 straight starts, but that could now be in jeopardy depending on the severity of the injury to Lawrence’s ankle.
