Travis Kelce was spotted alongside Odell Beckham Jr. shortly before the Chiefs’ season opener on Friday in Brazil.
The two were seen on the sidelines along with Brazilian superstar soccer player Neymar as they briefly shook hands in a video posted by the Chiefs.
“C’mon now, dawg,” Kelce said to Beckham before giving him another handshake.
Beckham is a free agent and has yet to be picked up by an NFL team this season, but the former Giants wide receiver has insisted he plans on playing after a fake retirement report circulated on social media in August.
Beckham, 32, lambasted the false report through a series of posts on X, saying, “LOL WTF… when was that announced and by who? That’s funny, appreciate the concerns but this Shxt ain’t over yet.”
The three-time Pro Bowler followed with, “Not done yet… thanks for hr concerns and have a blessed day.”
Not finished with criticizing the report, Beckham continued with another post, threatening to block anyone who wishes him a happy retirement.
“No seriously,” Beckham wrote on the platform a little over an hour later. “Plz stop reading everything on the internet, and stop texting me happy retirement b4 u piss me off. That will get no response. I promise u the day I’m done I will let u kno. Again if u text me happy retirement im just gon have to block u. Thanks.”
Beckham last played with the Dolphins in 2024, but recorded little playing time with just 55 total receiving yards.
NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported in August that Beckham “has drawn interest from several teams and plans to play somewhere in 2025,” but it’s unclear if the Chiefs were one of them.
Kansas City is opening its season against the Chargers at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, marking the second year in a row the NFL is hosting a Week 1 game in Brazil.
Kelce told reporters Thursday that he is excited to play in Brazil, saying that he wants to “say hello to everybody in the crowd.”
“I’m pumped about tomorrow,” Kelce said, “and I’ll be sure to make sure I say hello to everybody in the crowd, knowing that they took the time to come out and see some American sports.”
Kelce also opened up for the first time publicly about his engagement to Taylor Swift and how he has been “living high” since starting his relationship with the 14-time Grammy award winner.
“I got one more ring from it — two if we’re counting the first Super Bowl (while dating Taylor),” Kelce told reporters. “Ever since I’ve been dating Taylor, life has been fun. It’s been exciting. Obviously, a lot more eyes, and I accept that. It’s just … I’m living life, living on a high.”
Swift was reportedly not in attendance for the game in South America.
