He doesn’t feel exactly 22, but Travis Kelce is “feeling young” and “ready to rock” as a potential NFL swan song looms.
Speaking to reporters Thursday from Brazil, where the Chiefs will kick off their 2025 season Friday against the division rival Chargers, the 35-year-old tight end was asked about this season possibly being his “last dance” as he looks ahead to a future with his new fiancée, pop megastar Taylor Swift.
“For me? It’s the last one on the contract right now, but I tell you what, I’m feeling young and feeling ready to rock, baby,” said Kelce, who is entering his 13th season in the league.
A 10-time Pro Bowler and three-time Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs, Kelce put in the work this offseason as he left a quiet 2024 campaign in the rearview.
Through 16 regular-season games last year, Kelce posted career-low numbers in yards (823) and touchdowns (three).
He was also a non-factor in the Chiefs’ blowout Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, tallying just four receptions for 39 yards in February’s 40-22 defeat.
“I’ve thrown that thing in the trash,” Kelce said over the summer, according to ESPN. “I’ve moved on. It happened sooner than you can imagine. I was pretty focused on this year in the offseason.”
Kelce is entering the final year of a two-year contract extension he signed in 2024 worth $34.25 million.
The All-Pro tight end is entering the 2025 season on cloud nine after popping the question to Swift, 35, last month.
Together since 2023, Swift has supported Kelce at Chiefs games over the last two seasons at home and on the road.
“Ever since I’ve been dating Taylor, life has been fun. It’s been exciting,” he told reporters. “Obviously, a lot more eyes, and I accept that. But I’m living life, living on a high.”
It remains to be seen if Swift will be at Friday’s opener.
The Chiefs will host the Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch next week as part of their home opener at Arrowhead Stadium.
