A social media snippet doesn’t always tell the whole story.
That’s according to two-way Colorado star Travis Hunter, who spoke Tuesday about a viral moment involving fiancée Leanna Lenee from weeks prior, in which the couple’s postgame interaction raised eyebrows.
“There’s a lot of stuff that could be happening in the stands, people don’t understand that,” Hunter, 21, said on the latest installment of “The Pivot Podcast.”
“She might look irritated towards me, but at the same time, there’s a lot of stuff she deal with during the game. There’s a lot of stuff people don’t see off the camera.”
Moments after the Buffaloes’ dominant 52-0 win on Oklahoma State on Nov. 29, Hunter — a Heisman Trophy candidate who could potentially be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft — attempted to hug Lenee on the field but she appeared to turn away.
As the interaction unfolded, the wide receiver/cornerback appeared to converse with Lenee before pointing off-camera.
Hunter gushed over “queen” Lenee in an Instagram post one day after the game, something he expanded on during his recent “Pivot Podcast” visit.
“I just let people talk,” he said. “Me, I’m a big troller so I just troll the internet. I really don’t care what they think or what they say about us so, I just go on there and troll. They talk about her, I post her to make them even more mad than they already are so they try to find something to hate, try to find something to break up on our relationship but ain’t nothing there, ain’t nothing you can find cause I love my woman.”
Hunter, who said Tuesday that he and Lenee have “been together for a long, long time,” confirmed their engagement in February.
“She’s my closest to everything, she helped me with everything,” Hunter said. “It’s kind of hard sometimes but she’s always there.”
Lenee has supported Hunter throughout a standout 2024 campaign, in which he’s tallied 92 catches for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns.
In addition to Hunter, Miami quarterback Cam Ward, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel and Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty have been named Heisman Trophy finalists.
The most prestigious prize in college football will be awarded in New York on Dec. 14.
