The NBA trade market is heating up and the Raptors and Pacers are currently in talks on a potential deal.
The Eastern Conference teams are discussing a possible trade that centers around two-time All-Star forward Pascal Siakam, according to The Athletic.
The deal would send former Net Bruce Brown to Toronto along with three first-round draft picks and other salaries.
The Raptors and Pacers are said to be far along in talks and there have been several back-and-forth proposals between the two teams, according to the report.
A deal still has not been finalized, but the Pacers’ interest in completing a trade appears to be high.
Sportsnet’s Michael Grange added additional context on Tuesday night.
“I don’t get sense anything is imminent, but who knows,” Grange wrote on X. “ Pacers have been in mix for a while & Raptors have been in active talks w/ teams — Pacers among them – for a while. We’ll see if this gets pushed over line or if it’s just a sign market is ramping up.”
“The key in a deal w/ Pacers would be the young talent they include,” he added. “Three Pacers picks are all likely to be in mid-teens, depending on protections, and the additional pick they have in ’24 is likely a low first in a weak draft. Mathurin and are Nembhard would be appealing, obv.”
Siakam has a bit of the power in terms of where he lands in any potential deal since he’s in the final year of his contract and any team that attempts to acquire him is likely going to want to know its prospects of re-signing him.
The Kings had recently been interested in trying to get Siakam before the Feb. 8 deadline, but they ended talks with the Raptors after it became apparent, according to The Athletic, that Siakam would not want to sign an extension in Sacramento.

And extension talks between Siakam and Toronto haven’t progressed in recent months, but holding onto the star forward and trying to work out an extension could be an option as well.
Siakam has averaged 22.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists this season in Toronto.
