The days when NFL free agency was considered fool’s gold for bad teams are over.

The Eagles used free agency last year to make the leap from playoff team to Super Bowl champion by exploiting flaws in the value system, uncovering hidden gems who reached their potential in the right scheme and finding the attitude missing from their locker room.

Will a team be able to replicate the class of Saquon Barkley, Zack Baun, Mekhi Becton, C.J. Gardner-Johnson and (miss) Bryce Huff through this year’s free agents?

Not likely, especially when some of the top would-be free agents — Tee Higgins, Trey Smith, Baun and Osa Odighizuwa — came off the board in the past few days.
