As Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis goes back to the drawing board for a head coach and general manager, he’s expected to lean on a few people for guidance.
Among them is Tom Brady, according to a CBS Sports report, which said the Patriots legend “will have some amount of influence” over the Raiders’ decisions.
Brady has been linked to the Raiders as Davis has attempted to sell him a share of the franchise.
And with the drastic moves that Davis made last week, he’ll keep Brady as part of his inner circle as the Raiders owner looks to find a new head coach and GM.
It’s unknown how much influence the seven-time Super Bowl champ will have on the decision-making process, but he’ll be one of four people in Davis’ inner circle after the firings of Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler.
Brady’s expected influence in the decision-making process is an interesting one, as a snag had been hit in the process of selling him a share of the franchise.
The league’s finance committee had been concerned about the discounted price Davis had been offering Brady for an ownership stake, the Washington Post reported last month.
Sandra Douglass Morgan, the team president that Davis hired in 2022, is also expected to be part of the process along with a few others.
Antonio Pierce was given the interim head coaching job while Champ Kelly was named interim general manager.
But Davis will look to fill the roles with personnel that have a certain vision for the organization.
When it comes to the next coach, it’s believed that the Raiders would want their next head coach to be a player-centric coach, according to CBS Sports.
The last two coaches that Davis had hired had both been offensive-minded.
The Raiders are going into a Week 9 matchup against the Giants with a 3-5 record, but a team that seems to be a bit looser under Pierce following the change at head coach.
